Thinking of possible doing a cam swap this winter, just curious as to what you guys think I could possibly gain or if it would even be worth the time.
Car is a 75 duster 3150 lb with driver, 727 5000 stall, Dana 60 with 4.56, 30x13 tires, ladder bar.
Current engine is: 440 stock crank, eagle rods .040 over 10.9:1 compression Trick Flow 240 heads OOTB Proform 850 carb Edlebrock Victor 440 intake 1.5 rockers TTI 1 3/4" headers with 18" glasspack mufflers Mopar Performance .557 solid flat tappet
Car went a best of 10.49 with this combo, but typically is a 10.7s car.
I have a Mopar .590 cam in another engine so it would just be a matter of swapping cams in the motors.
The other motor ran 10.9s-11.0s 440 stock crank, scat rods .030 over 10:1 compression 440 source heads that were hand ported (port job didn't made a bit of difference) Holley 750 DP Weiand single plane intake 1.5 rockers TTI 2" headers with 6" glasspack mufflers Mopar Performance .590 solid flat tappet
I shifted both engines at 6,000 and picked up a good 2 tenths with the newer engine, but it has almost 1 pt of more compression, better heads but smaller headers. I'm just wondering if I swap the .557 out for the .590 if that will utilize more of the potential of the Trick Flow 240s or not.

I think I would swap the headers first, but I think you will pick up with the 590, I would swap both. 1 3/4 is small for that setup IMO, I'd run 1 7/8 minimum even with the 557.
Make sure you have enough fuel pump, and I assume the glass packs are perforated and not louvered?

I sold the 2" headers as I HATED to work on them. I wanted to get a set of proparts headers but they are 2 to 2 1/8" and I'm thinking that just to big for my combo, but maybe not. I'd like to get a set of 1 7/8" for the car, but I don't think anyone makes a set of 1 7/8" underchassis headers for an A body that I've found.
The mufflers are Summit brand. Basically a 3" pipe inside a 3 1/2" pipe with holes punched in the 3" pipe. They really don't do much for quieting down the car, but the car has "mufflers" so I can run a class if it requires them.

Ah, that does make it tough. Food for thought, take it with a grain of salt of Dulcich tested header sizes on a 600+ HP 440 years back, the cam is 260 @ .050 solid roller, that setup picked up alot more torque over 5000 RPM with the larger headers. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/mopp-0405-dyno-test-torque-headers/I'd still try the .590, but if it doesn't pick up much I'd bet its the headers slowing you down.
