My '70 Duster 340 is a radio delete car, but the dash is set up for the thumbwheel style radio.

Thumbwheel is correct for a 1970 A-body Rallye dash, '71 is the round knob.

Thanks.
John, that ad is what got me thinking. My dash has the thumbwheel cutout, but you rarely see a thumbwheel for sale and many restored 70 Dusters have the knob type.

The radio pictured below is the correct one for 1970 Duster 340 (rallye dash) . Pretty common radio to locate, since the 68-9 Barracuda radio is the same. These radios are unique, don't be mislead into buying the wrong one. Notice the shape of the chrome bezel and the mounting points on the bezel . Only the 68-9 Barracuda, as well as the rallye dash 70 A body Duster 340 and Dart swinger 340 will have this particular chrome bezel. Also notice the "fat" chrome buttons, unique to the 68-9 Valliant/ Barracuda and 70 rallye dash A bodies . I believe the AM thumb wheel radio was the only choice for tunes in a 70 340 Duster rallye dash. The standard instrument cluster in the 70 Valiant and Duster had knobs. In 71, both the rallye and the standard dashs both had knobs. 1972 was the first year for the AM-FM radio as an option in the Plymouth A bodies and by then, the standard instrument cluster was the only one available.
Interesting to note that in Bigmoneylewis's photo of the radio, the printing reads "Solid State by Plymouth". I've often wondered if the dodge version reads "Solid State by Dodge", and in Chrysler's, "Chrysler Solid Sate". Depending on the car, did these monickers coincide with the appropriate model the radio, thumb wheel or knob, ended up in?

that dash pad looks low on air,
what about AM-FM on a 70 a body, was it the same as the b body???
No, although the A body am/fm will fit in a 70 B body slot. I've seen some guys do this since the A body is more plentiful. The clear face plates (covering the dial) are different.
