It’s really quite simple...... the “casting number” is not the “part number”, and with MP, that’s basically how it is with everything.

Looks like a nice intake, when are you going to put it on the engine? You were running a 4150 intake with a tall adapter before correct? If you have the room a one inch merge type of spacer will work great on that intake. If you don't have the room then it will still work fine with the Dominator bolted right to the flange. I went from a victor 440 and 1-1/2” tapered wilson adapter with a 1050 dominator to this same M1 4500 with no adapter (i put on the stock flat hood) on my 10.5:1 505” in my 68 charger. Both intakes were cleaned up at the radius in the plenum and port matched. I lost a tenth and almost 1 mph.

Greg...... did you try the M1 with the other hood(6 pak scoop?) before putting the stock hood back on?

Thanks Andy. I am not sure when or if I am going to put it on.... The victor intake on the motor now needed some massaging to get it to fit due to the heads being cut pretty far and I am not so sure I want to cut/massage this nice intake to fit as nice. I have a fresh 493 in the shop with a hydraulic roller that it would work really nice on for a motor swap over the winter. I am trying to decide what to do. The 493 is a pump gas 10.4 to 1 motor and is likely making more power than the motor in it now, but likely not by much.

The old hood had some sort of scoop? If so, I have to believe that some of the lost performance could attributed to that, and if the old hood was fiberglass, then the stock hood put some weight back on the car as well.

Yeah I wouldn't cut the new intake to fit old heads when you're going to change engines anyway. Just put it on the 493 and start fresh. I think you'll be happy with that combo.

Yes Dwayne....the hood had the large 5” sixpack scoop and i had it nicely sealed off underneath from any eng compartment air. The flat hood i put on is also fiberglass. But heavier version than the lighterweight liftoff one.
