Was not planning to race the ET Finals this year as I am lucky to be very busy at work in these crazy times but decided I am going to make it work and go. This will be about the 15th ET Finals I have gone to in 20 years but have only taken this car once and that was back in 2002 (Fallon) as the Challenger has always been the weapon of choice. Looking forward, any one else racing?

Well it was my plan back in January.... started racing points at WHP, until the world shut down. They did get the last two races in conveniently on my work days just last month. I could have still joined in, but to be honest I knew absolutely no one down there and just decided hanging at a track on a team of strangers for 4 days wasn’t of interest to me.

Keith, I'll be at Famoso next weekend in S/Pro with Team Sacramento. Do You know if there will be an ET Brackets Final in Vegas for all 7 NHRA Divisions like is usually held at the World Finals in Pomona? It's not clear and a Friend of mine in Div 6 says Yes, but the word from Div 7 is No? Good Luck to You. Dave A

Hello Dave, From what I was told the National Championship this year is at the Dodge Finals in Vegas Oct30-Nov 1st, Winners of Saturdays Team race go to that. The Sunday race format looks pretty good as well which sounds like a spin off a bit of Kyle's Spring Fling type races with cars vs cars and dragsters vs dragsters down to 16 before they mix. With the Farmington Dragway team.

I'll be there, but not with the red duster as I sold it. I'll be running the dragster. I'll keep my eyes out for you.

Well unfortunately here we are with Fire around us again..........we had fire to the North - West and East of us for 2 weeks just finally put out last week. Hopefully they get this under control by mid-Wednesday or I will be pulling the plug, not leaving the wife here by herself if it gets worse........Our house is in the center of pic. (yellow dot).

Keith hopefully the fires steer clear of your family, best of luck. Have a few friends going looks like a "light" turnout but when you have tracks that never even got in a bracket race all year what can one expect. Best of luck to all who make it to Bakersfield.

Thanks for the comments and concerns on the fire, it appears to have moved well away from us at this point at least what of it is left.

Well I went solo as planned as the wife had to work Friday. Car ran great and was very predictable, 1st round had a great race with a Maverick from Arizona (I think), his dialed 10.42 to my 10.49. We left with almost identical reaction times and I had a fender on him to the 1/8th, at that point I started pulling away as this motor has a pretty good pull on the back 660' and at 1200' with a good car length on him I backed into him and turned on a win light with a 10.490, whew so close to breaking out! 2nd round was like a new 1st round as they ran all the buyback cars so it was almost 4 hours later. I had dialed for a bad 60' at 10.54 in 96* heat, one of the cars in front of me lost its motor about 100' out which caused a 45 minute clean up, weather stayed the same in that time and I was good with my dial although I had a sneaking suspicion I was going to hook muck better and was racing a fast 8.22 dialed corvette so knew I had to cut a light and be ready for some brake at the end, the car hooked hard and once again our lights were not far off, only problem is I got off the pedal to early as he looked so far back I thought I had him covered, I got back on the gas at about 60' before the stripe but ended up feeding it to him. Was very bummed and my predictor said I would have ran a 10.53 so blew it big time, as they say it is what it is and cannot wait till next year!

How was the smell this year?

Cab, Pretty much negated by the smoke, look at the smoke in my pictures, air quality was 187 Sunday I think which has been the norm in a lot of Ca.

Nothing like the smell of rotting pomegranates to end your racing year, huh
