When you adjust the headlights the buckets move against the core support. I am assuming the lubricant was there to help the bucket move smoothly.

i would use a waterproof grease. Dont think its a big deal , but back in the day cars were driven, daily and in the salt. So just to help when you replaced the bulb so you could re- align

Anyone know what CAG Plants are? I wonder why the directive denotes that. I'm going out on a limb here, Chassis And Glass? Maybe to differentiate them from transmission plants and engine plants?

Details I knew not. Was working in shop today and checked an unrestored 68 b body that has crystallized red grease on those ribs. Odd thing is until I take it apart only the driver side seems to have excess globbed on. I flipped up a small bit with a small screwdriver and it appears to be a red color grease. If you zoom in you may see a glint of the red color.

A thought on Assy line procedure. some workers would use none, or a small amount that would become unnoticeable over time, others would glop it on and residue would remain over time? I think it's naive to think that all workers on the line followed the specific procedures all the time.
