I built a tube chassis Abody car for drag race only and regret not going to a strut front end for definite weight savings.Aftermarket Aarm suspension with coilovers would probably offer more tunability than T-bars but not a big weight saver for the bucks.Member DVW runs a Bbody drag car that I believe still has a lightened T-bar front suspension and he is knocking on the 8sec door!Struts are the way to go for the real weight savings.Regret that Ididn't go that way. When I bought my AJE he claimed 125# weight savings. Unfortunately, the fine print is you only save that much when removing power steering, power brakes, and factory brakes. It's closer to 40# or so when you have manual steering snd brakes.

All the stock suspension excluding brakes only weigh 123 lbs. so there is no way to loose a 125 lbs. the tubular uppers are heavier than the stamped stock ones . the lowers are less than a half a lbs. lighter. the k frame is 2.5 lbs lighter. Then that's almost nothing if you have a stock k frame that has been cut for oil pan. I have made a list of what every part weighs. So I don't get where guys say they lost a 125 lbs.

No way 125 lbs.

I put one of Tory Shellehamers tube frame setups on my car over the winter and I think Tory told me 60 lbs or so. And I think his is as light as you can possibly get.

I went to an aluminum firewall, dash, tunnel, and lexan windows, cut off everything I didn't need up front, and with his suspension cut 150lbs.
