It wasn't quite cheap , but I got most of the stuff at the University of Minnesota facilities management warehouse.........they have surplus stuff from every department.
Pre-covid , it was Thursdays from 8 to 5.
Now , you can make an appointment for a 45 minute session.
You will need to be quick if you want to thoroughly browse the place in 45 minutes.
But I got the case , the hydrometers , thermometers and glass , all for under 30.00
A little cutting and fitting some foam rubber , and I can take my mad scientist act on the road.
But this place has everything from scientific devices to books to office furniture to you name it , and it is at fire sale prices.
I found out about the place by accident............the guys I was driving for at the time had me stop in to pick up two gas chronographs that were shipping to Pa. , and I vowed to return just to shop.

Nice setup! I bought some graduated cylinders on line for a few $$ and will use my old weather station case to do similar to yours.

Just be ready for funny looks when you start testing on the gas station lot.
No one has built up the nerve to walk over and ask what I am doing yet , so I am wondering what they tell their friends that they saw.
No one is going to mistake me for a terrorist , and I just got my " Not a bad guy " certification from the TSA for my haz mat endorsement , so I can prove it.
But I can tell that some people are really wondering what the heck I am up to. grin

One other thing, I understand I can get E98 in mid/northern MN from a local ethanol producer, but haven't checked into that. Using 93 pump or race gas to make up a race fuel might have some great advantages, like very high compression ratio tolerance. Like methanol, it needs to be run fatter (I assume) as compression ratio/cylinder pressure get past a certain level. I have talked to guys that run E98 race fuel in 15.5/1 motors successfully.
My 528 with 13.4 compression was a lot leaner than the 550 motor at 15/1. say from 5.8 down to 4.8/5.2 in the lights. Blown motors and outlaw sprints run 4.0 to 3.7!

I was under the impression the main reason we have E85 not E100 is people pumping a gallon of moonshine at the gas station and drinking it. When our fire dept tours our local ethanol plant they mentioned immediately cutting the alcohol with gasoline to make it undrinkable.

Meaning my guess is that if the gasoline evaporates off the resulting alcohol would have a higher octane rating?

Besides the need to keep people from drinking industrial alcohol, the main reason is because there is no provision in the fuel tax code to tax alchohol but adding at least 1% gasoline magically converts the alcohol into gasoline, making it taxable.
