The terrain at Woodley is nothing short of terrible
I never had a problem with it. Grass is easier on your feet and cooler to walk on compared to pavement. What concerns me is that this event location REALLY changes the event. I have gotten to like the extra activities as much as the actual show itself. The Friday cruise, the Friday night at the Burbank Big Boy, the Saturday night at the Northridge Big Boy....These locations are now much further away and not likely to be included. I started going to the show in 2001 strictly for the cars and the parts. By 2010 I joined in on the extra activities including staying at the Air Tel, hanging out in the parking lot with those wacky Candians...

This is not a Spring Fling. With this short notice change, we just can’t pull all the extra activities There are possibilities for all that from and around Irwindale. Less traffic, bigger lots, safer area, Neat mountain cruising (Angeles Crest, San Gabriel Cyn Rd, Mt Baldy), NHRA museum, Justice Brothers museum, Cruise-In locations You can hang out in the Monrovia Courtyard by Marriott host hotel also. Which is right next door to about 3-5 restaurants and a big parking lot. Le Roy’s breakfast is a well known for locals and across the street. Old Town Monrovia is 5 min from host hotel and has over a dozen local favorite eateries: The Peach, Jakes Roadhouse, Old Town Pizza, T. Phillips Alehouse.... Also you can jump on and off the freeway and go to Old Spaghetti Factory in 5 min. Another local favorite.

Well, considering that the first time we went to Woodley my wife sprained her ankle on that terrain, plus these days for a big show we will probably have the Jazzy scooter for her. Rough terrain is hard in a scooter (she had trouble with Turlock in January). All in all, I'll take pavement.

A major issue @Woodley Park are the gopher holes.. If not careful one can easily twist ankle.. Just my $0.02...

Hey Steve as you know I get there Friday night and am usually one of the first in line and just sleep in my truck. Any problem with that this year? Guessing you'll have signs up.

The facility will be locked. That’s stuff that happens outside of the show. I don’t know how that will play out. We’ve never had a show there before. We are just trying have an event. How to be first in line is going have to be up to those swappers. It took you a few times to figure out a system that worked for you at the beginning.

Almost an 8 hour drive for me. Not sure I can do it on such short notice. But will surely give it some thought
Been wanting to see this show for several years and when we lived in KY, was out of the question. Now in southern AZ makes all the west coast shows now possible Always a great show, I usually fly out from KY and do this show along with a bunch other stuff. Last year it was The Who at Hollywood Bowl on Thursday, Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield Friday, Fall Fling Saturday, Supercar Sunday n Woodland Hills, then cruising The PCH, Mulholland and relaxing on Manhattan Beach Monday, and cursing the Hollywood Hills. Also dodged some fire areas Monday as they were really breaking out that day.

For sure before show we will release a layout with entry gate location. We are not quite there yet.

I for one am very glad to see this and will support the event, I race at Irwindale often.
I do have a few questions, will it be test and tune only? Can we set up a gambler bracket race or a quick 16?
I have some parts to sell and would like to race, can I sell them from my pit spot, or do I need a swap space too?
I don't spend much time on the General forum, Just-a-dart = Rod McGregor

I don't spend much time on the General forum, Just-a-dart = Rod McGregor For this first event, it’s Test N Tune only. This change happened very close to the event. We just want to get this event off and go from there. Your pit spot will not be near the swap. Within your pit you can put some parts out. If it’s interfering with pit lane traffic, they may ask you to do otherwise.

Looks like there isn't much trailer parking at the local hotels? Host hotel is Courtyard by Marriott - Monrovia 700 W Huntington Dr, Monrovia. $105 discount show rate. Code: Fall Fling. Was there yesterday and they have plenty of parking. They host all the other Irwindale car events that have trailers. They will mark an area off for Fall Fling guests to hang out and park together.

I, for one, am glad to hear that this event is on!! I've been to Spring Fling several times and I really love it. I truly wish I could attend this year just to support you but I can't make it.
I can't even imagine the challenges involved with relocating such a big event on such short notice.I wish you the best of luck and I will help you promote the event here on the East Coast.
I'm just glad you aren't having to deal with all of the Moparts negativity like I've had to deal with.
Good luck!!
Ed Ed, Thank you for the kind words and support. Yes, it's quite a change after doing 57 Spring and Fall shows in one location. One time LA Park Dept made us move the location 1/2 mile away 3 days before a show. The person the runs/owns the track has been to a handful of our shows at Woodley, so he does have some feel of the event. No doubt we will have issues to overcome the day of the event. Outdoor Swap Meets have been open for months during this Covid deal. Just have to wear masks. I was just at Long Beach swap meet yesterday. They've had 8 events this summer and will have 6 more before years end. They just don't allow Sporting events, Theaters, etc with spectators sitting in stands close to each other. Fall Fling has no competition, awards, presentations, autograph signing, etc.

Bump Has anyone been around Monrovia lately. I was checking the fires out and the area is pretty close to the track.
