Hey there not looking to bash just looking to see if anyone else is having issues with parts from Rock Auto? i have had several items that were either packaged wrong or returned and then shipped to me with the wrong part or something of the sort. today i was installing some cam bearings into a daily driver small block and one of the bearings is way smaller than the others to the point you cant even slide it over a used cam out of the block with no compression on it. i have also had the wrong brake parts sent and new alternators that have dead shorts right out of the box. when i started getting stuff there i was very happy with the price and service i just find it is getting to the point over the last couple of years that i may not be worth it to buy there as every time i have an issue the return policy is a pain when shipping from up here. i hope they can sort things out as they have a great listing of vintage stuff but it would be nice if it was easier to talk to a human to work things out with them. i am sure there are many who have 0 issues with them just checking in to see if there are others with the same issue as me and how much of an issue it may be.
Their customer service strategy is not worth the savings to me. I get their business model, and can accept parts that have clearly been sitting on a shelf for 25 yrs collecting dust, but when I have an issue or need a return I don't want to deal with an online interface.
I had some issues with RA and now I only buy from them on certain occasions.
Exactly There are some things like brake kits, basic suspension parts, etc... you can get without issues but I would never order engine or transmission parts from a discount warehouse supply chain. I did order an oil pan for my DD Toyota and it came fast and fit perfect

We had our first issue with them last week. They forgot to put our magnet in the package. It was for my Fiancé's car so; when the package arrived, she opened it right away because she wanted the magnet. She was bummed.
I've been using them for years and never had one issue. I've never had to contact them at all.

We use RA less and less, too. Someone on Ebay usually has the same thing for less money by time you add in the shipping. And Ebay is easier to order from.

This but last week I need some gaskets and thermostats Rockauto had it to my door for 1/3rd less than anyone else in 3 days and the Motorrad fail-safe was sent from them at 13 bucks for 3 that is less than one locally and it was an off-brand. Ordered both CV shafts Newin Name Brand for less than 1/2 of what off-brand was to my door. But I also bought half of what I needed at eBay as you said. So I check both

Had a bad instance with them almost 7 yrs ago when I had my Caravan. The van's right front strut was completely blown out, bought a set of raybestos brand strut (correct term 'loaded'? Fully assembled). This was the result:
I was getting the van ready for a trip and had no time left to wait for another set before I left, so I ended up driving almost 3K miles with these. By the time I got back, it was difficult to steer.
If I remember correctly, rock auto didn't fuss about the exchange, and I sent them back on their dime. Ended up buying Moog which I should've done in the first place. The struts outlasted the van....
so far I've never had an issue with RA. 20 years ago I worked inthe parts department for an IH truck dealer. We would get parts packaged wrong once in a while.
