as long as they can easily finance it. people pay unbelievably stupid $$$ for something unique. Ford sells Shelby F150 for $150K and they sell every one they can build. you can build exactly the, or slightly better, same truck except for the Shelby name for $75K.
for that matter as long as they can finance it people pay really stupid $$ for most cars and trucks. they don't care about the cost. their only concern is the monthly payment. doesn't matter that they owe more than it's worth, they just buy something new and they roll the debt into the new car and they finance it again. banks don't care how much they owe. if the debt goes bad the government picks up the tab .

I think the truck is hideous and ridiculous, but I'm glad there are people who like it, and that it sold so quickly. We're all better off as gearheads if companies keep churning out performance vehicles, even if a specific vehicle may not appeal to everyone.

I totally agree but still cant wrap my head around the price. But like when wife and I went to a bicycle store looking for bikes and they had some $4000 bike. The wife said "who the hell would pay that". Told her probably people that make 10X what we do cause we were looking at $400 bikes.

What changes were made to upgrade the 8 speed automatic to handle the 650 ft-lbs of torque? There are several versions of the 8spd. A V6 one chrysler builds themselves under license, then the 8HP70 for 5.7 and 6.4 (rated 700nm torque) and an 8HP90 (rated 900nm torque) for hellcats

Woulda been nice to throw the employees at the dealership a bone...
So a paycheck is not enough, money for free?
For all who think it costs way way over what it should, it dont cost a dime not to buy one.
Let the people who can enjoy it do so, its there money.
STOP POTATO HATE!

There are very few enthusiasts in this forum who can drop $100K for a truck out of the blue, but I know a couple hundred from going to B-J and Mecum who can do it easily, then sell it the next day for less if they choose to. Don't forget about that class of citizen who can do that, they make our hobby much more expensive and price us out of what we really want, but they are out there... The one brother/partner in the dealership my son works at spent $15M on a house then his wife had a room in a castle in Europe disassembled and rebuilt in their house or SOMETHING crazy like that. They sold the house for under $4M. Thats how you roll when you have $300M He also had a couple million dollar house in a high end vacation area in northern MI. He wanted to buy the 2 neighboring houses for more "elbow room". Only one neighbor would sell so he bulldozed his house and the neighbors house he bought and centered the new house on the 2 properties. Is it just me or is that some crazy chit. Woulda been nice to throw the employees at the dealership a bone instead of BLOWING a few million dollars but maybe I'M crazy. He has money from other places, you don't make that kinda cake off one store. My buddy owns an import dealership, he has a nice house and 4-5 shelby mustangs, no way he could drop 15 mill on a cottage lol

i don't want to get to off topic and hijack the thread. actually $4,000 is a pretty good price for a good Carbon Fiber bike. some of the top of the line triathlon bikes MSRP at close to $20K. i didn't buy it new, i picked it up used last fall. i bought a full carbon 2015 Specialized Roubaix S-Works bike with electronic shifting last fall. i the bike had a MSRP of $10,000 when new. it also had high end Zipp full carbon fiber wheels that had a MSRP of $4,000. i paid $,4,500 for the bike, sold the CF wheels, CF stem, CF handle bars, the top of the line dura ace groupset, for $3,500 and got a alloy wheels, stem, handlebars and ultegra electronic groupset in trade on the sale. i also sold my 2010 Specialized Roubaix expert with electronic shifting for $1,500. so in the end i got a 5 year newer and vastly superior bike and put $500 in my pocket. actually after getting a fitting and some accesories for the bike i broke even or spent maybe $200. i don't ride to much this year because of the virus mess, i ride solo or i ride my spin cycle. i will only put about 600 miles on this year. but last year i rode 1,700 miles on my bike in 5 months, and usually do the same every year. if the virus mess weren't here i hoped to get close to 2,000 miles on my new bile. i know of several people who ride 4,000+ miles a year on their bikes. i know a few people who have spent $10,000 on their bike and they thought it was cheap. i bought my bike from one of those people. and i will ad they usually have more than 1 of those bikes.

it's not really the weight that matters to me. it's the RIDE QUALITY, responsiveness and superior handling you get with a QUALITY CF bike. of course the weight can make a difference when you ride 50 miles in 2.75 hours. a cheap CF bike can be pure torture to ride long distances.
with all of the CF parts on the bike i bought weighed about 13lbs. a alloy bike would be close to 20lbs. a high end steel bike that will have a $10K MSRP will weigh about 18lbs depending on the wheels. a cheap steel department store bike will be close to 25lbs depending on how it's made, who makes it and what type of wheels are on it.
in the end it's a hobby and how much you want to spend and what you want to accomplish. i can easily say you spent way more for you new performance car than i had in my original N96 V21 V25 striped 72 hemi road runner and the truck and car i had at the time combined.
