Has anyone used a Walbro high pressure fuel pump on their conversion? I used an expensive pump that is very loud. I put a 5.7 in a 64 Savoy wagon. Because the wagon tank stands up in the quarter panel, I can't put the pump in the tank. I built an insulated sound inclosure for the pump, mounted it behind the left rear spring hanger, and it is still too loud.

I have this intank Walbro pump, quiet as a mouse, this one moves a lot of fuel, they have many choices. CLICK HERE

I just bought a tanks inc setup for my Coronet 5.7 conversion, will be a long time before I see how quiet that is. I have a walbro 255 hanging off the frame rail on my 70 Fury (EFI, turbo) and that thing gets loud after running for a few hours down the road. Don't really hear it in the car, but if you're outside the car standing next to it you definitely know it's there. Been that way since 2009 no issue.

I had the 255lph intank when I was still carbed & it was loud, this big pump you can hear the fuel flowing through the bypass regulator at an idle,

I run a Walboro/TI GSL392(I think) 255LPH external pump. Good pump, reasonably quite, reliable.
Lots of fakes out there, make sure you buy from a reputable vendor. I paid a little more and got mine from DIYAutotune and not amazon.

I use the genuine 255lph pumps on.my bikes. I used to work for a European car manufacturer, and we bought them both direct from Walbro and via a major auto parts importer.
They work well enough, but the Bosch "044" pump flows both more at no head pressure, and far more at actual running pressures.
We were buying the Bosch pumps direct for 17USD in 2009 - when we last bought them.
My job was to act as a liaison between global parts suppliers and the warranty needs of the end user(new car buyer). I was so good at my job the company left the US market in 2009. The latter sentence is a joke, but the former beset me with a short-term crisis.
Shorter: the Bosch 044 should support 700 hp, and the Walbro 255 lph somewhat less. Both pumps are widely used and highly regarded. Use with confidence and watch for counterfeits.

Thanks for the replies. I may change to the Walbro. As I said earlier, I can,t run an in-tank pump due to the lay out of the stock wagon tank. The pump I am running now can be heard at least 50 feet from the car, stupid loud.

If I turn both of my 255 pumps on you can't hear them from 50ft away lol, whatever pump that is it needs to go.

Depending on the opening, you may be able to sneak a pump on the end of the stock sending unit. A friend of mine did that on a in-cab C10 fuel tank.

I got the Walbro pump installed today. I can't believe how quite it is. Wish I had bought it first.
