I've used several different sets of CAT brand made in China forged steel BB Chevy 6.8 and 6.7 long rods with really good results with no problems
I took one of them along with a Eagle and Carrillo rod to one of the best crankshaft grinders and motor builders in SO CA in 2001 and ask Ron to look at all three and tell me what he thought of them, he identified the Carrillo rod right away and couldn't tell the difference between the Eagle and CAT brands, he didn't see anything wrong with them
I ask him how he knew which one was the Carrillo rod and his reply was it was double shot peened
, I couldn't see that
I have two sets of Speedmaster 7.1 long BB Chevy rods that I'm going to use in two low deck pump gas builds with offset ground to 3.910 stroke 440 cranks
I'll have them mag and checked for roundness, proper I.D. and corrected as needed and center to center lengths before using them also, just like all the other rods I use.
I also have a set of their SB Chevy small journal 6.125 long rods that I'm going to use in a pump gas 360 Mopar stroker build with a custom piston set
