I had a 69 Fury III 4-door 383 2-bbl as my first car and it had a Chrysler 9-1/4 rear, it was my second car. I believe that was the first use of the non-Dana 9-1/4 in a Chrysler product. Of course it blew up and I parted out the car...

Width of the 67 C-body dana I removed was 61 5/8 drum to drum and is regarded as such. I do know it was a direct fit into an E-body. E-body dana width drum to drum is 61 3/4. Spring perch distance center to center of both the E-body 9 3/4 dana and the C-body 9 1/4 dana is 46 " for both. As I stated, it bolted right into an E-body But did you check the pinion angle? The gist of this thread is that the OP cited a FSM that is not body specific. The quote from the FSM is relative to C-bodies only.

Yep , the fsm should have said the cars had rears, engines, trans and wiring and left it at that, why do we need a service manual? EXCLUSIVE, Webster’s definition; not shared - available to only one person or group. Hemi engine 4 speed has 9-3/4 ONLY, so it’s wrong wording or typo or whatever you want to call it, not generic or body specific. a-body b-body c-body has nothing to do with my point

I know what the the gist of the thread is...I was merely answering cudaman1969's last question stating he'd ..."like to know the width of the c-body 35 drum to drum"......which I provided. The rest is just an interesting observation regarding what the 9 1/4 C dana will bolt right into should someone ever stumble onto one.

Scouts used a few different Dana axles and all were 5 lug.
Could be a 27, 30 or 44. Year and engine can help determine.

I have a Dana 44 from a Scout, has the same 30-spline on the axles as an 8 3/4".
