That is horrible news. He really was one of the nicest guys you could meet. That is a pretty straight stretch of highway it must have been a freak accident. My heart goes out to his family.

I don't know all the details but I believe it's part of the current construction and the traffic pattern changes frequently. Absolutely sad, The man literally committed his life to helping others, he was a social worker by day and would always check in on his friends after work and always wanted to make sure we were doing as good as we could. He really was a pleasure to know.

I know people have mixed feelings on these, this was not set up by the family but a friend of the family. if you can find it in your heart to donate something I can guarantee you every little bit is appreciated. as you can see he left behind some very young children and I'm sure they're having a very hard time dealing with this.

I did not know Mike, but 9 days ago he contacted me out of the blue via pm about a post I made.we corresponded a couple times and I wondered why my last message to him saturdy motning went un answered.
I can tell just by our brief interaction he was full of life and looking to build a great future.
Very sad feel a little tight in the gut...
I'll share a message Mike sent me it shows his devotion to his life, family and others:

Thank you, I really appreciate your response. I agree the Covid stuff is really scary. My wife works as an XXXXXX. We worry about it every day. We have 2 young children at home and worry about school in the fall. My hope is we will get thru this and develop a more caring approach has a country!

Be well my friend!

Mike

So apparently Mikey was helping someone else who was in an accident and had stopped to help. What we're told is:

Mike was stopped when a 3/4 diesel driven by a 20 year old never hit the brakes. He had some head trauma but death was caused be a transected aorta. Basically he was hit so hard it ripped the aorta from his heart. Ripped the axle off the car and flipped the car.
