Planning a 526 stroker build using an Indy aluminum block. 440-1 345 heads, solid roller. Am looking at having Harland Sharp make some 1.7 rockers, which they will for the same price as 1.5/1.6. But also wondering about keeping the shaft oiling and running pushrod oiling as well. I was planning on using the AMC Comp lifter 861, then pushrods with a .040" restriction. Also using a cup adjuster and ball/ball pushrods. Is that all I need to do? The adjuster doesn't need to have an oil hole does it? I just want more oil to the pushrod ends/adjuster cup. No you wont need the rockers set up.. just the push rods .. your lash will get the oil onto the rocker rollers and your running standard oiling also so you should be set

The 861 lifters have edge orifice oiling and the correct clocking of the oil feed hole....... so no restrictions to the top end in the pushrods are needed.

Thanks for the replies. I am also going to use cup style adjusters and ball/ball pushrods. Do I need adjusters with thru oiling? I am running both oiling, I do have the oil through adjuster T&D rockers Ball Ball push rods 5k miles street & strip.

I assume you had the option for lifter oiling done to the block.
If the way the lifter bores are oiled is similar to stock, no mods to oil the top end is necessary when using the 861 lifters.
Unless other modifications have been done to the HS rockers to facilitate the oil getting from the pushrod into the rocker arm, the only thing you’re accomplishing with oil going up the pushrod is improving the lubrication to the adjuster.

The way I understand it, You have to order the Indy block for pushrod oiling (cost additional). Otherwise the lifters don't have an oil gallery, just splash oiling. Correct.

Ok, so if that were the case, no oil gallery, would the hi pressure pin oiling of the 861 lifter not receive oil either? Correct. No pressure means no pressure. The 861 lifters will just have splash oiling if the gallery isn't drilled so no pressure for the pin and no pressure for the pushrod.

It will only require a visual inspection.
The lifter bores either have oil feed holes........ or they don’t.
I’ve only used one Indy block, and it didn’t get the lifter bore oiling mod. No oil holes in the lifter bores.
