Has anybody had any experience with carbon fiber brakes on a dragster running around 4.60 @152.00

I run 152 in the quarter and never had the need for then.. in the 1/8 you should end up with a longer
shut down area

Have them in my 2300lb door car that is that quick

At one time when GM put the carbon fiber brakes on their New Z28 the public were have a few problems with the brakes. Seems the GM type of Carbon Fiber Brakes need a period of time to have heat put in the system and the brakes would not work very well till warmed up. A few Owners would just jump in there Z28 and use the right pedal well before the brakes were ready and would blow through stop signs and red lights not knowing they need a warm up. These brakes were a very expensive option. This system was for the track not a drag stirp and when warmed up they were an impressive braking system. A after market system for drag racing would be a nice thing to use over 150 MPH at the top end.

Your last sentence was your strongest point IMO, CF brakes need heat to really start working, anything with cold brakes under 100?mph first time doesn't cut I suspect, but in the 150mph range, I suspect it only takes a short distance to get up to temp and finding max stopping power.

I think they run CF brakes on most if not all Pro Stock cars.

My recollection is that if you hit them hard they want to lock up.

If you bomb the brakes yes they can and will lock up for sure, from nothing to locked up quickly. You want even steady pressure on them to slow the car down. Once they get heat in the they work great, before that they kinda suck honestly. Mine are Strange units and I actually have just pulled them off the car as I like to use both pedals when racing. Some guys will run carbon on the rear only as well bracket racing. They are about 22lbs lighter than their steel counterparts. My car did not slow any going to steel over the carbon FWIW and still stops fine from 190

Carbon brakes work very well but they are expensive and if you use them moderately to heavily they wear out pretty quickly. They are made for the times when the chute fails. In that case they are worth every penny.
