My Turbo Start Reproduction Battery died , bought in 2013, looking for an over the counter battery this time my questions are
This is for a 71 Roadrunner with a 440/6
1. I see only group 24 repro battery toppers for sale, is that right?
2. Lots of group 24 batteries in newer batteries, will they work in my car? The group 27 ones seem to be all the deep cycle ones.

I found Battery central Mall website their batteries are 359US so that would be close to 600Cdn with exchange and taxes for me, a bit much.

Any tips would be great, what are you using

Thanks

Here is the one I’m using on my car after my repro group 27 bought the farm.
It’s installed on a group 24 battery and looks pretty good.
The battery hold down clamp didn’t fit it very well and needed tweaking but otherwise no complaints.

The link didn’t seem to be working for me with the link feature so copy and paste my link if it doesn’t work for you, I don’t have time to fight with it....

Got it to work, thanks, is that a group 24, I assume it is as it seems those toppers are available only for group 24

They only fit on a group 24 but are available with red caps, yellow caps and green caps, I assume they are all the same with different color caps the only difference between them. Size wise they are probably about the length and width of a group 27 as they need to fit over the top of the battery. The toppers have holes in them for the posts to protrude through.
Now I'm on my work laptop instead of my ipad and able to make a screen grab of a picture of the underhood of my convertible, the other picture was taken with a flash and the battery with topper doesn't look as good, but under daylight it looks pretty good. Other than a show car, I'd use a topper over a high priced repro battery every time.

Thanks this helps, I think this the way I'm going also. I can't see spending all this money for a battery. I now have a dead repo battery to gut, if I ever get enough nerve to do so LOL

Gut your repro battery case and be done with it. Battery toppers are like Cragar five spoke hubcaps.

LOL if I had the guts to attempt that I would, maybe I'll find someone in Canada here that has done it and would do it for me.
