my original owner 2006 diesel 4wd automatic with 131000 miles started acting up, when on a short trip to pick up something light maybe 1 1/2 ton plus light car trailer, the truck will not shift into second until it hits 2500 rpm now, no other issues except a slight shutter when coming to a stop, i baby this truck, about 40k ago i replaced the transducer and the govenor solenoid with the alison style, also put in an "extreme duty pressure solenoid manifold" at the same time, that all worked great until now, any ideas what could be wrong?

honestly i cant remember its been so long, but i did adjust the bands then, i might try servicing the trans and replacing the transducer, govenor solenoid again and adjust the bands again, if that dont work i guess a rebuilt one from randy's transmission out of utah is in order, i really cant complain i bought the truck new 14 years ago and have had zero problems except for batteries and an ac compressor.

Probably 2nd gear band adjustment plus it is quick and easy without emptying the trans even. It is the only element applied in 2nd that comes on in 2nd that is not already on in 1st unless you are going from manual 1st. When the clearance gets big enough it takes longer to fill the servo and engage the band, tightening up the adjustment to compensate for wear reduces the distance the servo has to travel.

still could be something outside the trans like the big KD solenoid motor thingy they added on in place of a cable not returning to low enough angle, could be bad TPS signal or a bunch of other things. Proper diagnosis is important here as you may spend $2000 on a trans and have the same issue when your done.

i wish it were only 2g's for a rebuilt 48re trans, its more like 3500 with converter, plus the new cooler, rear mainseal, rear freeze plug upgrade, shipping both ways for tranny and core return, labor, fluids comes to almost 7g's, i guess im gonna have to find somebody that i can trust to diagnose it.

Drive it up here, spend a week fishing and I'll have it done with some basic upgrades for $2500. $7000 is insane!

thats one hell of an offer and i really appreciate it, but i have so much going on here, finishing the compound here for the daughters wedding in july which was postponed becuz of the scamdemic, will see what happens after, oh and i scanned the thing and got a fault code p-1753 which is some throttle sensor gadget, its going over to a trans guy who was recommended by a friend, thanks TPS issues will cause the exact problem your having. Although its more common on gas motor trucks , but not unheard of on coal burners either

thanks for the replies, i took it down to ron at trc trans in chatsworth after i scanned it and could not clear the p-1753 fault code for the tva problem, we took it for a ride with the scanner plugged in, he then cleared the code and now it's working perfectly, he said clean all the connections at the tva and any grounds and it should be fine, he would not take any money, i just purchased a brand new mopar one on ebay to have just in case the one in the truck gives me anymore grief, did not know it would throw a code without the truck having a check engine light on, damn computer controlled stuff really gets me frustrated sometimes, my 2013 freightliner with a detroit is even more frustrating, you guys are awesome, thanks for all the help

GM put 3 turbos on one of our Duramax trucks at work. The driver complained of low power a couple of times. The dealer said it had turbo codes and changed the turbo under warranty. The truck I drive everyday got one turbo. We took it in with 95000 miles and asked them to check it out since it was almost out of warranty. They put 2 injectors and a turbo in it, no codes on my cheap scanner and no warning lights. That would have been 10K worth of work out of warranty!
