I got the Pypes tips for a great price, only complaint was I had to polish off the logo etchings they put on them. They still look great 3 years later. Pic before polishing

OEM tips were liable to came apart in a few years after they were improperly made. The hanger bracket should have been seal welded to the body of the tip, but it wasn't. Not seal welding allowed the acid used in plating to be retained in the interface between the hanger and the main body. The result was the retained acid in time destroyed the hanger, and the rear of the exhaust system fell down on the rear axle. This is exactly what happened to my '69 Barracuda on a road trip about 1500 miles from home in about 1971 or 1972 when I was driving from Houston to Portland, OR. I replaced the failed tip with a parts counter one to get the exhaust pipe off the rear axle. This parts counter tip and the other original one lasted over 50 years, so my personal failure rate was 1 out of 3.
Re-chroming survivors will create the same problem all over again with the new plating acid if the hanger is not seal welded. Most platers would probably tell you to get it seal welded and then they could plate it. Note that to do a proper seal weld all around the hanger, welding needs to be done INSIDE the tip...
I tossed my originals and bought stainless reproductions.
