‘77 440 stock block and heads, ch4b, avs2 carb, 727 with stock 68 converter, 3.23 rear.
I have a xe262 cam that I’m getting ready to put in but wondering if I should run it advanced. I’ve read through some threads where it’s been mentioned to advance it up to 6* for the low compression. Is it worth doing and how does it affect a tune? I was also looking at some converters but the rpm range is 1300-5600 On the cam, does that range change when advancing the cam? This thing is super low compression, 120 psi on all cylinders tested cold. I know pistons and heads is the true fix but I’m poor right now and I want to drive my car with what I have.

that cam has 4 degrees of advance ground into to it to begin with. don't advance it anymore. it's a fairly small cam even for a low compression 440.
