I am cleaning up 2 sets (32) of these. They are lightly varnished up but not too bad of shape. Out of the 32 about 5 were sludged up some inside.

Now my question, at the bottom of the inside of the lifter is a slight diviot like maybe an oil squirt hole to pit some oil on the roller wheel. But I can not get any air to flow with my air compressor' blow nozzle. Is that diviot 'hole' bored through?

I am disabled retired and kind of bucks down right now and can not pay $300 for 16 new roller lifters.
One set are from a Dak with 42,000 miles. The other set are from a Darango with 49,000 and those are the coked up ones.

Do you have any friends who play guitar?

If you can take a plain guitar string
Of say .007 .008 .009 .010 (all very common gauges) and probe the hole in question
You may be able to pick the gunk out of it enough to tell if it is a machined all the way through.
Especially if you try it wet with a shot of carb cleaner or other strong solvent.

The strings (wires) are super handy for carburetor Fine tuning and other things, useful to have.

I’ve played for decades and could send you a few short pieces if you need.

Dental picks from swap meets are also good for this kind of thing.

I'v been soaking them.
I just tried pushing a sharpened .025" Mig welding wire thru the diviot at the bottom. It seems it is only a few thou deep.

Anyway,

Jegs has the same Melling JB-2225's for $9.40 each. $150.40 and free shipping.

Hughes wants $9.60. $153.60 plus $22.75 shipping for a set of 16 so $176.35.

But RockAuto has 4 in stock but $7.87 each. $125.92 for a set of 16 when the get the other 12 in stock, plus $8.99 shipping for $134.91 .

Rockauto code 136925361126808145.

But if I order from them they only have 4 in stock and I need the set of 16. I am going to see if Jegs will price match.

Years ago I priced these lifters and they were $22.75 each, $364 a set. I think Ma Mopar wants $29.99 each, $478.84 a set.

I'm doing a Magnum build and I soaked the lifters in some top end cleaner and they turned out great with all passages clear. Left them sealed in a container for three days and they look like brand new twocents

OK, finished cleaning 31 of these, thought I had 2 complete sets. Of the 31 I come up with 12 that show no wear and the roller wheels are good, 8 have rust scars on the wheel and do not buff out so they are junk . Of the last 11, the wheels are kind of sticky, hard spots even with soaking in a 50/50 mix Permatex Assy lube and Delo 15W40 so they too are junk.

Ordered from Jegs a set of 16 Melling JB-2225's @ $9.40 each. But they did price match Rockautos price of $7.89 each, plus $8.99 Rockautos shipping so I saved $17 after Sales Tax added on.
