Ok so here is my dilemma, I have a 1967 belvedere, that I acquired years ago, It has what I thought were 1970 disc brakes, long pin type. Well I have a rough wheel bearing so I thought no problem, new wheel bearings. Well the inner seal on the rotor doesn't ride on the spindle seal race. Looks like I have the smaller spindle seal race 1.73", and the rotor seals are 1.96 with an outside bore diam. of 2.625. Looks like the original seals that they list for the 1970 style rotor is the same as a 11" drum set, I have some of these laying around and they fit the spindle race but the seal falls into the rotor (obviously duh). I also have seals that fit the rotor but they are too large for the spindle.Is there a seal that fits both the rotor, and the spindle, maybe one not originally intended for this application? I also have some spindles laying around with rotors and calipers but they are drop in type , maybe 73 and up. Would it be best to swap these over? a lot more work though. I'm all ears. thanks!

It may be easier than you think. Contact a bearing sales company in your area. You should be able to find them with an internet search. You have the ID and OD of the seal size you need. They should be able to match a seal the will fit your application. We have a company called Bearing Services here in Michigan and they have set me up many times for both bearings and seals for the jobs I was doing at the time. Good Luck.

You probably have the wrong mix of parts. Someone stuck some incorrect rotors on there which is why the bearing failed. Some rotors will seem to fit but the bearings aren't correct so they don't wear properly. Buy a set of the correct rotors and you're issues will go away.

Yep just looked a little deeper the inner bearing doesn't fit the spindle either. Not sure how this was working? What about running the taller 73 and up spindle? I have a set of those and I have 4 of the 11" big spindle rotors.

I ran into this when putting discs on the front of my Savoy luckily my parts guy was a stock car racer and knows how to put stuff together. I didn't really know what I had because got a bunch of parts in a milk crate from a Toyota customer of mine. I would start from scratch with the tall spindles and 11" calipers. We have a bearing distributor near me in Akron and there is a girl that works there and she carries a set of calipers on her belt to measure your bearing or seal needs. I prefer to deal with a bearing and seal specialist when putting things together that you really don't know the origin of

It shouldn't be too hard to find a combination of parts that work. B body disc brake knuckles with sliding calipers are either small bearing or large bearing.

I'm going to install the other 73-up tall spindles, based off previous threads I found on here.

I don't know how the bearing and seal dimensions compare between early and late model C body and B body rotors but when using a sleeve to get a 73 C body rotor to fit a 72 and earlier spindle, the seal that fits the 73 rotor and the 72 spindle is a front pump seal from a 200R4 Turbo Hydromatic.

Interesting, I was originally looking through the national oil seal catalog and came up with 3227 as being the closest to what would work and that's the application. Still would have to figure out the inner bearing though. I bit the bullet though and started installing the 73- up spindles I had laying around.

I guess the real issue is what rotor you have. If the spindle is the 70-72 B/E body spindle, it takes the small front bearing. Believe A3 and A5. Centric makes that Rotor that fits with stock bearings and seals. Races already installed.

1972 and older B, C, and E bodies used a Set 6 inner and Set 2 outer wheel bearing.
