I have a 1991 W-150 & a 1990 Ramcharger, both with 241 transfer cases, dana 44 front axle, central axle disconnect, etc, exact same 4wd system in both of them, I'm old school, locking hubs type of guy. Here's my issue: Both trucks in park, all wheels on ground, shifter in 2-HI the Ramcharger front driveshaft will spin freely, the W-150 only turns about 1/4 turn then stops, I'm guessing my CAD actuator is smoked on one, but which one? Should the front driveshaft spin freely when in park 2wd? 4wd worked fine on both last time I used them. Something's not right on one of them obviously, but which one?

Neither wheel hub is the problem unless someone added a locking hub. There should be a smooth cap on each hub. I would disconnect the driveshaft at the front end and see if it turns. If it does the problem is on the transfer case side. If the front still wont turn the CAD must be locked in.

It has the smooth hubs, I was just saying I'm used to the old school systems with locking hubs, when I put the Ramcharger in 4wd, the driveshaft won't spin freely, so it looks like the actuator on the W-150 is bad, time for a posi-lock!!

Test the actuator. Could be as simple as a rusted line or bad hose. Simple systems to diagnose and fix.

Check to make sure the plastic tabs on the shift fork aren't missing. The extra slack in the shift collar, might not have it engaging properly.
