What does the lower steering column bearing or bushing look like for a floor shift car? I converted this over from column shift and I’m not sure what holds the shaft in the center of the column housing at the bottom.

Like on the e body there is a snap ring that retains a plastic bushing. Or some of them take a bushing with 2 or 3 screws around the perimeter. This has no holes or slots, completely smooth. Unlike the earlier cars with a one piece steering shaft omitting this bushing is no big deal. With the later 2 piece shaft this won't fly. What an I missing? Year one lists various part numbers for 73 and down b body.

I am in the same situation with what I believe is a 1975 A Body column.

It's been a while since I've done this, but IIRC you can use the shift tube with existing bushing if you don't have access to a shaft setup for console shift. IIRC, I took all of the column shift guts out except for shift tube, and cut off the the shift lever at the end of the tube and ground it smooth like it was never there. When the upper column (with new console shift parts) is assembled, I believe the top of the shift tube will fit into the forward-most piece of upper column that houses the key release. When the key release is pushed down, it will slightly turn the shift tube since it is attached to it.
