Was trying to install new motor mounts in my Dakota before I got sidelined. Friggin' things lasted only 184K miles and 27 years.

Truthfully, they've been 'bad' since I bought the truck almost 5 years ago. What prompted me to finally take action was realizing that the drivers side mount was actually riding on the battery cable to the starter.

But of course, my genuine made in china replacements are too long and won't fit in the mount on the chassis.

As an aside, these mounts are a PIA to swap out.

Ah, that crappy OEM stuff...

Just saw an article where some parts supplier has actually screwed up replacement SBC mounts.
I guess they couldn't find one of the billion or so examples to properly clone...

What a PITA, and I hate non OEM stuff.

Ahhh should of just took the old one, drilled holes for two long bolts, poof, good to go.

Taterhead, it may just come to that. I need to get the engine not only secured, but raised back up. Aside from the pinched battery cable, the fan is way too low in the shroud and is getting close to hitting......

well if his 3.9 is like the 3.9 in my 99, it is so doggy that you have to floor it to move.... and then it still will barely get out of its own way....

Is it fast? No, but it's not as slow as ya'll make it out to be. Maybe I got lucky?

I ordered a different set of motor mounts and they are wider than the last set I ordered that were too wide. This is one of those time I wish I knew how to weld.

Well, I got the mounts in. What a royal PITA the drivers side was.

Unlike the previous week however, not the slightest bit of nausea, and I was under the truck for about 9 hrs total over the course of two days. Did I mention the drivers side was a royal PITA?

In addition to the exercises the Doc gave me, two things I did differently this time around was lift the whole truck up so I wasn't looking at things at an angle, and put something under my head so it wasn't tilted so far back.

Despite the drivers side mount being a royal PITA, I still like this truck. Look past the dents and surface rust on the roof, the truck has NO rot anywhere.

I think your exceeding the weight rating on those death ramps under the back tires. I stopped using those years ago when one bent with a Royal Monaco on it. Was working on my workbench when I heard a BONG.

Me personally, the only time I've seen bad stuff happen with them is when you actually try to drive on/off them. In the 25+ yrs I've owned mine, I've only used them as you see here and I've had all kinds of vehicles on them.

That being said though, I always use them on the end opposite of where I'm working.

My 300 flattened one once, when I was driving up it. Had for years prior to that occurring, never again will I trust that design.

FYI...I've heard the driver's side mount is a PITA...

I know the feeling, John. Mine has fought me every step of the way on this swap. I am headed out side now to finish installing the a/c lines and charge it up.

And, no, neither ramp was on the verge of collapsing under the weight of my Dakota.

I have 13 letters in my last name, I don't want to disprove the theory that it only happens driving on or off.

I have posted pics with these ramps in them over the years and this is the first time they have caused such an issue. I guess isolation is getting to some people?

And I never said they can't collapse from a car just sitting on them, I just said I've never seen it.

Kinda surprised no one has made comments about how the front is supported.
