[quote=Sniper]You will probably need the mopar throttle linkage adapter for the new carb. Edelbrock 1481, unless your carb already has that adapter, then you can most likely recycle it to the new carb.

Can't say about Holleys, I don't like them. 750 is overkill, imo. Years ago I ran some back to back testing on a mild 360. The Edelbrock 1406 vs the Edelbrock 1407. The 1406 had better mileage and a top speed of 110 in my test car. The 1407 got substantially worse mileage but would top out the 125 mph speedo, since it was my work car and I didn't need more top end but better mileage I stuck with the 1406.

I am not familiar with the "adaptor" this is what is on current carb... probably not right...

You don't have the adapter on that one, the adapter bolts onto that linkage and is setup to work properly with the kick down linkage and throttle cable.

If I were in your place Id go with an electric choke Edelbrock 600cfm. Why? Its a great carb, its close to what you currently had and with the correct kickdown adaptor should be a very simple install and go.

Keep old mopars alive.

Go with the 1407 750, your 383 will thank you. Put one on my 340 Demon and it loves it. The main reason people get worse mileage with the 750 is because they love the power increase and are standing on the throttle more. The 383 Magnum wasn't intended to be a gas miser so let it breathe like it wants to. If you want better gas mileage put a 2bbl. on it.

Mine is manual choke, but they also have electric if you prefer.
Hooking up the electric is easy, instructions provided.

a 4bbl will get BETTER gas mileage than a 2bbl on a 383 if conservatively driven. no whistling

If your Carter bolted up then so will the Edelbrock.

One more ? Did end up going with electric choke. Good place to tie in for 12v key on power? I know coil and Alt are no no....

Never mind....search is your friend....

Sorry, I was putting quality time in on the Cambridge's EFI build.

The switched 12V to the regulator/ballast is where the factory tapped into for it's electric choke setups. later ones also incorporated a three prong oil pressure switch that would only apply 12v to the choke if the engine was running.
