Check with who ever makes the rules where you want to race NHRA use to have a rule, maybe it is still in force, that prohibited mounting them beside or above the flywheel I wouldn't and don't install the regulator behind the carb. so the fuel lines are not fighting gravity and acceleration forces at the hit of the throttle

To be honest you should never mount a fuel regulator solid to anything. Best way would be to run it up next to the car and let it hang freely. And yes the NHRA rulebook states you cannot mount your regulator to the firewall. But I have seen plenty mounted there and racing.

1:5 in General Regs - My rulebook says "Fuel cans, distribution blocks etc. must be located at least 6 inches forward of the flywheel/bellhousing area on RWD vehicles." None of this stuff is secret. Very easy to find. In your rulebook.

We have 3 obvious answers. 1. none of the cars we're discussing have conventional master cylinders (clearly illegal and dangerous), or 2. no one pays any attention to the rules, and therefore there are no complaints (the injured are as guilty as the accused) 3. those who wrote those rules had no idea what it meant (very popular with SCTA*)
* my favorite explanation as to why something already approved in writing is now illegal when it beats your friend's car: "It violates the spirit of the rules".

Not much choice on the MC & brake lines, but the point is they want to minimize a fuel fire from clutch/flywheel explosion. Overkill ? Too general or vague ? Maybe, but they also don't want to make teching the cars a PITA, I guess. I think that rule's been around for decades.
Me, I mount regulators next to the carb or as close as is practical & easily accessed/adjusted.
probably order a bracket and do that. I don't want miles of braided all over.

Most of the smart (fast) guys mount the regulators forward of the carbs - if the tank and pump aren't already up front. And keep the low pressure plumbing as short as reasonable. There's a reason for that.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Just looking at the car I can see that the fuel supply is at the rear so the pressure will most likely be in the 6 to 7 psi range.. no problem if your carbed said car. the motor is a 511LD 440jim had.

Is it Okay or legal to put your fuel pressure regulator on the fire wall? Like here? Rules are there for a reason. Of course the reason this rule came to be was because if the flywheel exploded bad things could happen. When you build/modify a car it is best to follow the rule book. It makes your car safer. (Who doesn't want that?) And it makes it Iook like a smart guy, who was trying to do things right, did the work on the car.

All the rules ( fuel system components) I've seen say no, it must be ahead or behind by 6". But even so, would you want to place it there even if there were no rule ?? Yes it is a cleaner appearing install but burnt paint doesn't clean well anyway and if your not concerned about your safety think about the SOB that has to put the fire out. never forget ... crap happens
