1966 and 1967 are a different breed when it comes to Hemi Cars. They are the Rodney Dangerfield of Hemis, They Get No Respect. Personally I love the shoe boxes and the less options the better. If I did not have what I have now I would buy a 66 low option four speed Hemi or a 1968 Hemi Road Runner. Prices are right on the 66s and some 67s.Now does rarity over take the Hemis in the same year. Some thing like you posted is at the top of shoe boxes because of the four doors and the color but that does not always mean people are looking for an old mans family Sedan. I like it but lots would not put their cash out on it. Rarity some times rules the price likely the four door will bring a bigger dollar. But if you look at 1971 E Bodies a 1971 Hemi Cuda value is greater than a 1971 Hemi Challenger if all is the same. They are basically the same Vehicle except for the two inches and panels. It is a Hype thing and the 1971 Cuda took off and has been on top for a long long time.

I like the 4 door cars for the novelty factor , but me personally would NOT pay more to own one ( I value them much less, same goes for the 2 door sedans as well )
But thats MY 2 cents

What does a guy do with all of those extra doors? I guess you could weld the rear doors shut and pretend they were never there.

The brown four door from Canada use to have a big hood scoop on it. It was run hard by many an owner, except Rick. I liked it and wish I had of known a few times if was coming up for sale but it has a good home now. There were many 1966 two door Hemi cars built so numbers bring down price a little compared to the few four door made.

The gold one is gorgeous. I saw it at Mike's place a few years ago. I guess the four door is Gold not Brown. It was around me on the street for years and years. I could tell you about one story in an underground parking garage but that is not fare to this car or Mike. The beauty of this car has been brought back to it, never really liked the scoop that was on it but the times were very different back in the 80s.

Wow, there are four known now, I had only seen the red and white ones. There are 6 I know of: 1966 Dodge, red Hemi/auto (the Floyd Cline car, in the initial post on this thread) 1966 Dodge, white Hemi/auto 1966 Dodge, broze Hemi/auto (Mike Ross's car) 1966 Dodge, dark blue Hemi/ 4 speed 1966 Plymouth, dark green Hemi/ 4 speed 1967 Plymouth, light blue Hemi/auto (Finland car) There is a possible 7th car: will know more in a few months.

Is this the car in MN? A guy I know has one, but don't remember the color. He keeps a low profile but isn't a "get off my lawn"-kind of guy.

No one knows Now! everything evolves. what difference is if 10 or 100 were made. whats left. what matters, and how bad does someone want one. if everyone like them so much, then you can make one. folks are concerned with resale value. who knows where market is going? its a cool car because there are few. Not big on looks. 2 many doors.

The green 1966 Plymouth was ordered new by my father and stolen in 1980. It was always in NJ. More details can be found in the Moparts Archives: there is a thread on Hemi 4 door cars there which go into greater depth regarding many of the cars noted in this thread thus far.

Which one was in the Garlits Museum?
The Garlits museum car is a clone, I thought. If so, then the white 1966 Dodge I make reference to is out there somewhere. In the late 1980s/early 1990s it was in the same town/general area the red Floyd Cline car was.

I believe the blue Dodge is in MN. The blue Dodge I make reference to is not in MN. Not saying that there is not one in MN, just saying this is not the one I know of.

VIN of the white 1966 Dodge. If this is the VIN of the car in Don's museum then it's not a clone:

Here is the story on the Bronze four door. It was way back in the late 70s.and we put on a Mopar only car show in Toronto. Len Weiler shows up with the Hemi Four Door and his wife drives in with the Super Bird. Day was going ok till about noon and it started to rain. The show moved to an under ground garage and cars were driving in and Lens wife drives the Bird in with no problem wing and all. Well Len comes in with the Four Door and rubs a Cement Pillar and takes the chrome off and some paint on the back end. We were all saying how can he do that but his wife can manage to make it in without hitting anything in a Super Bird. Not sure if there was any Major quarter damage but the trim came off and was on the ground. Back in those days I would take the A12 Runner to shows and the fun mostly was after the show going to the Hot Car spots in Toronto I would frequent on the most weekends to drag race on the street.
Mike if you still have that hood scoop, take a picture of it and post that would bring back a lot of memories. I got a picture of the scoop on the Four Door some place from the 70s but likely could never find it. If I had known Tony D. was going to sell the four door I would of made him an offer on the four door at this time. I wanted another Hemi Car and have a soft spot for 1966 shoe boxes. I have never got a Hemi Shoe Box, Hemi E Bodies seem to get in the way and all my A12 are gone now also.
One other thing I just thought of. I was told by a Salesman years ago that worked at Davidson Chrysler on Kingston Rd., in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada that they had a 1966 Hemi Four Door on the lot and it was Bronze, Brown. Do not know it this is the same car that Mike owns now. I was more interested in other cars sold from the Dealership then like the 68 Super Stock Cars.

Which one was in the Garlits Museum?
The Garlits museum car is a clone, I thought. If so, then the white 1966 Dodge I make reference to is out there somewhere. In the late 1980s/early 1990s it was in the same town/general area the red Floyd Cline car was. It was close to 30 years ago when I saw it there and I recall some blurb about it being an FBI pursuit car. I thought it was some brownish colour tho. Kevin

I don't think so, I believe it was stolen & is currently unrecovered the red car is up in that neighborhood Dan, I introduced you to him several years ago at MCACN. I was hoping you'd remember. He's owned it for quite some time. Also used to own something like Buddy Martin's Barracuda, which was like a Gran Coupe customized with 'Cuda stuff or ???? I think that one was red. Wish I remembered more details.

The red Floyd Cline car was owned by William DiGillio for some time: he restored it and owned it at the time the car was on display at Chryslers at Carlisle (I am not use of what year it was). William also owned the bronze Dodge around the same time, before Mike Ross. Not sure if this is the person you are thinking of.

Nah, I'm familiar with the two cars that appeared in HPP around 1986. Certainly not confusing those. This guy owns a collectibles business. I've known him for years. Certainly not mixing up the owner. AFAI recall, he's owned the car for years and years.

So are you then saying that there is another red Dodge, besides the Floyd Cline car (which was in HPP in 1986 and was owned/retored by William DiGillio)?

I never said it was red. I don't remember the color. I think it's a 1966 Plymouth too.

Alrighty, it's a 1966 Coronet and it's light blue. Thanks for finding out. Is it 4 speed or auto? Also, where is it in general (southeastern US, Central US, etc.)?

Don't know what tranny, but it's in MN, remember? Thanks. With the way the conversation evolved, did not realize that confirmation was on the MN car. Thanks for confirming the color. I believe from other times this car was discussed, it is a four speed car. Thanks for your patience with me on this!

Moderators- once this thread runs its course, can we please archive this? There is little conversation that happens with these cars, and this current thread has content beyond the 4 door Hemi thread from some years back which is archived. In addition, as the archived thread has lost all of its pictures, this current thread will help supplement that.
Thanks!

Oh, please, it's all in fun! And with several conversations within the same wavelength, I don't blame ya for needing some straightening out.
