My friend and I got into a heated debate today. He wants to put redline F70-14 tires on his 70 challenger and claims that they were factory optional. My research tells me that the only tires that were available were raised white letters or white wall tires. As much as I would love to see his car with the redlines, I don't think he is correct. Can anyone back me up with proof either way that redlines were or were not available for the 70 challengers?
Much appreciated ! (and hopefully I don't owe him a case of beer !)

woo hoo ! I'll bring it with me to Carlisle...... providing the world hasn't ended by then with this insanity in the world right now.
But I have to wonder why they didn't offer redlines in 70 ? They seemed like a popular tire for muscle cars in 69. Why wouldn't it have continued over into 70 as well?

Much appreciated ! (and hopefully I don't owe him a case of beer !) As far as Redlines being "factory optional", No.... As far as Redlines ever being mounted and displayed on a 70 E body, Yes.... several "back in the day" factory promo and road test/advertisements were done with early 70 E bodies wearing Redline tires... so I'd say split that case of beer Mike

awesome. Thanks for everyones replies. While my buddy isn't happy over the answers, he did concede defeat. Now we just have to get rid of this damn virus to have some car shows (and beer!)

raised white letter tires F70-14 Goodyear POLYGLAS were introduced on Mopars with the Road Runner "spring special" & Super Bee "scat pack" 1969 package cars
first I've heard of '69 Darts w/RWL - any more info? I really don't have much more info on the Darts The one I remember was a late 69 Swinger. The original owners son had the car and had them on it. We talked a little bit about it and he said these are what came on the car new..... I did not see any documentation but I believed him.
