Thanks, I did figure it out. Also found a letter that stated 66 Hemi were exempt. Still curious about numbers produced in 67 for CA. Not sure there is an option report for that year and model. In 1970 there is N95 (ca emissions) and N97 (ca? noise reduction) on the fender tag. But those are mandated packaged, not customer choice options I believe the intent of the option reports were to track customer choice trends. Not sure if those mandated packages show up on any report. And those reports at best only track options for a VIN designated model, like GTX, RR, Belvedere I. So you’ll never get a break down of how many Hemi cars or Hemi 4spd got chrome curb feelers or whatever. In the bigger scheme it’s not really an entity of desirability. It’s like a group of guys all dating models. And one says, “but i’ve got the only one with detached earlobes ”... at that point, who cares.

^^^ Good one ! I'd think the closest one could get to a # would be to know how many were sold new in CA. Probably not much help, but maybe someone has that figure. (This is where I make work for Barry or Scott Smith ) And even that could be inaccurate: interstate dealer trade, non-registered racecars...

So in the case of a somewhat limited option Hemi, just wondering how many sent to CA were a Mandatory CAP option would be required. The point for me is how rare are the pair of carbs I have. It certainly would matter to someone restoring a 67 CA hemi car who strived for a correct OEM restoration. So the CAP option is not like a pair of curb feelers. It was a specific part with specific part numbers only applicable to the 67 Hemi CAP car. Same with the distributor. If data does not exist so be it. Somewhere a bean counter had to tell carter how many to make for production support. Was hoping someone had an estimate.

1967Dodge:B-body V8 with C.A.P. ~7.7% R/T with C.A.P. ~9.2% Charger with C.A.P. ~12.1% Plymouth:B-body V8 with C.A.P. ~9.0% GTX with C.A.P. ~8.8% a big "ballpark" guess: ~50 cars were: HEMI - 4 speed & C.A.P.

Now before we go down the "Where does this stuff come from?" road, again, this is from the 1967 Plymouth Data Book (salesman's book). Direct quote "Cleaner air package (mandatory Calif., NA otherwise or on Hemi)". This would seem that initially the CAP was not intended to apply to the California Hemi but if they exist, they exist. I personally don't know one way or another.

If you look at the parts book, service manual, Carter Books, the carbs exist along with CAP distributors for Hemi in 67. 68 up everything was CAP. That is not really the question, more interest in how may CA Hemis and how many 4 speed.

I know absolutely nothing about this other than what I read. I wish Scott Smith would weigh in here.

I apologize for hijacking the thread but I have a sorta related question. I have a 1969 charger R/T 440 engine that was a California car and has N97 on the build sheet, what does that mean the car came with as far as hood pad , noise reduction , carb #, and/or green carb solenoid?? I'm trying to figure out what the N97 package all included?? TIA!!
