Im going to look at a 71 barracuda roller and I wanted you guys input on how to confirm its a real 71 car. The car has had extensive metal work done so someone could of easliy swaped out quarters and tail panel even body numbers. Its a 318 car so Im not emtionaly invested in it. Im looking to build a 71 Cuda the way I would of ordered one and I want to make sure Im starting with a 71 shell and not a 73. I know theres something with the Ebrake cables right? I also know my 71 charger has a dimple in inner fender for vapor line is that 71 specific?
Plan is EL5, V6X, N96, A62,E55, D21, S83 with Houndstooth cloth (dont know the code)

I only buy MADE IN USA.

Well, the basic check is...
VIN tag......should be BH23G1 for a 318 car. The 1 means 1971. Then the last six digits Of that same number need to match the number stamped on the cowl by the air intake vent (by the drivers wiper) and the same stamp located on the radiator support, drivers side right by the radiator near the battery,

And does the title match? The drivers door sticker should also match, but that’s a lesser concern.

The headlight area is different as 71 were the only 4 headlight cars, so look for any funny business there.

No fenders on the car and doors are not a concern like you mentioned. What about the Ebrake cables and headliner rods, can anyone tell me about these nuances?
