With every passing year and the increasing popularity/power of the Internet, new broadcast sheets, fender tags, invoices, window stickers, past ownership history, and original engine/transmissions are being posted looking for their rightful homes. Laws are in place forbidding people from finding the car by VIN (rightly so), so these items rely on YOU finding them instead of vise-versa.

Google your full vin, google it again with any zeros replaced by the letter O, and google just the last 8 digits especially if youre missing your original powertrain components.

Don’t forget to also use the search feature at hamtramck-historical.com independently of a google search.

You may be one of the lucky ones

Also, if you’re bored, post any story you may have of dumb luck reuniting something to your car. They’re always fun to read.

I am 3rd owner of the Dart Sport I knew the 2nd well. and the 1st was a local man and have his info.
The Challenger Convertible was bought new owned by Fred and Wilma Flintstone if additional proof is needed to document that fact it has no floors

There is a Farcebook group I belong to that is all about fender tags. I expressed thoughts about not posting full VIN's from fender tags and almost got run out on the rails! Something about seeing them at shows so everything is game. I have taken thousands of pictures of fender tags and VIN's from shows, but I would never consider throwing them on the web for the entire world to see... tsk

I think there has been a case or two where a SECOND CAR has turned up with the same VIN!

I wasn’t meaning to turn it into a vin posting debate. That’s another song. Good or bad, there’s a lot of them out there associated with unclaimed documentation.

Has anyone claimed a lost fender tag or broadcast sheet decades later? Original owner find their hot rod back? I’ve got a couple stories I might type out later

You didn't get run out on the rails--you simply found few sharing your POV. There was nothing but civility in the discussion.

You’re missing the point. If someone else has found an item for your car(s) they will post it in a lost and found or hamtramck historical and you’ll only find it by googling your vin. You’re not posting it publicly, you’re simply doing a search for anyone else who has posted it on the internet for any reason.

Reality is, VERY few people have EVERYTHING possible related to their cars. Even if you have a matching numbers car with fender tag and build sheet, there’s still dealership invoices, window stickers, past owners trying to find out whatever happened to the car as well as additional build sheets bring found in other cars. It takes seconds to do a quick search. And it’s free.
