Had to move the engine over and make new mounts because of the steering and exhaust. Heres a photo of the mounts. The hole for the steering coulumn got bigger after moving it. I cut the coulumn, welded in a plug and put in a bronze bushing and a borgeson joint from an astro van. Next day I'll do more on the firewall.

Thats a big block, right? You going to have enough clearance for the oil filter to miss the rack? Gene

Don't scare me! I'm at work, can't check now. If so, I could move it over using these mounts mybe 1" more, or back another inch. i know the rack will need a heim joint to support the middle, and it has to go around the exhaust too.

Could someone measure how big around a filter is, and how long? Its going to be close, I don't know how small of a filter would work.

Wix Filters says a 51068 (PH43) is 3.660 dia. x 4.338 ht. and a 51515 (PH8A) is 3.660 dia. x 5.178 and a 51773 is 3.660 dia. x 6.982 ht. HTH

the standard [wix # 51515] filter protrudes 5 7/8" from the mounting boss of the oil pump. add approximately 1" for the retaining threads. also, check the front crossmember for interferance. good job on the mounts !

Remote oil filter is always an option.

Also, that joint is not a "borgeson" joint, Borgeson is an aftermarket parts supplier, what it is is a U joint out of an astro van, which is nice recycling cause had you actually bought a U joint from Borgeson it would have cost you a lot more.

Don't be the exception.

From what I recall, Borgeson actually developed and patented the steering U-joint as we know it, so in a way, they are all "borgeson" U-joints. They've been around for a VERY long time...
