Ever have something you just can't sell, no matter what you try? I don't mean just car related, I mean anything. I have some building material I bought but never used, Still in 'new condition' been stored inside out of the weather. It's been too long for me to return to the place of purchase. I've been trying to sell the items off and on for the past 9 months. Tried different prices, even went so far as to offer them for free. Nothing. Before I tried giving the items away, I had this one guy texting me about how he really wanted the items, but work obligations kept getting in the way. After almost 2 weeks of texting, I just called him. When he answered, he almost immediately started laughing. I asked if I had missed a joke and he replied "the joke is that you're stupid enough to think people would want that crap" and openly admitted to jacking with me because I am 'so stupid'. I need the items gone and almost started cutting them up, but decided instead just to donate everything to Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I've sold a LOT of stuff on CL and FB (some of it admittedly straight up 'junk')over the past ten years, but nothing has given me the problems these items have.

Yup. Even at 25-50 cents on the dollar. But every once in a while somebody steps up and they go away happy. Lately I've just started giving some of it away. One of these days when my patience is exhausted, I'm gonna dig a huge trench, photograph the stuff being thrown in, and seal it over. Then I'll put those photos all over the internet...

Yep. I usually end up just keeping it for a while and trying again if it's worth a bit or end up donating it to a rummage sale or whatever if it's not. If it's something that can stand being outside at all it gets dumped at the curb with a free sign a couple days before garbage day and someone usually picks it up.

I had a girlfriend I couldn't give away let alone sell. Does that count? Finally had to pay her first three months rent somewhere to get her out of my house.

People like that are who's number I put in every website or place I go to that wants a phone number. And that would just be the warm-up! I have these '70 Valiant ("brick") tail lights I occasionally try to sell for the last thirty years or so. I know the moment I toss them, someone will want a set.

Absolutely! Nose piece to an M body in perfect shape, no cracks. On the M body forum, finally said come get it for free, nope. Still have it in my attic. Other various things I've offered for just shipping cost, nope. I have a like-new headlight assembly for 2011-2014 Charger priced at $35 on ebay which is cheaper than any other there and have tried for a year or more, nope. I'm going to give it to our fleet guy to use on a car at work with hazed out lights, and he can just buy one for the other side. It's inexplicable sometimes why something doesn't sell.
Facts are stubborn things.

People like that are who's number I put in every website or place I go to that wants a phone number. I never think about doing that until AFTER I've deleted their number........... Just got back from my donation. Hopefully it will go to a good cause.

I found on the car parts that I can't sell Every couple of years I take them to one of the big area swap meets, these only happen spring and fall but good attendance I price everything with a "Cheap" price and also do a free pile on things that I just don't want to drag home again Always get rid of 75% to 90% of all my junk And couple of hours to load and an early morning at the swap and home by mid afternoon

I had a forged 273 crank that was balanced to 340 rods & pistons. All it needed was to be polished & cleaned. I could not sell it to save my life. Dropped the price to $20 on CL just to get rid of it figuring I would get $10. No takers. When we moved 6 years ago, I had to scrap it.
