I have to get my driveshaft shortened for the new car. I got a P5007411 yoke from MP. The driveshaft shop called and in formed me it has a Ford style U-jnt in the new yoke. It's not compatible with my large jnt driveshaft. I will have to have chevy yoke put on the tube and get a hybride jnt Ford/Chevy for the yoke. What pain in the rear. Guess I should have gotten the yoke somewhere else. Never dreamed it would be a problem from MP. Rant over. Jim

That number is supposed to be for the 7290 u-joint, I'd go have a look see.

I noticed that the yoke had outer snap rings when I looked at it. Called the driveshaft shop and told them it should have a 7290 jnt. He says no it is a 1330 Ford jnt. Guess MP has changed the spec. on this yoke since some of the later model stuff is using that setup. Jim

They make a 7290 to 1330 adapter u-joint.

John....I ordered that yoke for my car when doing another 7290 driveshaft. It was wrong, like the post says.
I work at the dealer, so I put thru a wrong for part number claim and no way would Mopar pay for it.
So.....had to find a conversion joint...just can't remember off hand what the number was.
But that does suck.....the yoke's not cheap, and it definitely is NOT for a 7290!!!
Other's beware. Another MP screw up.

If I remember correctly, I think there are two different 1330 joints also. A 1330 Spicer and a Ford only 1330.

Jim,

I've looked into that issue before.
As a result, it's NS1....

As best I can tell, somebody in the past assumed it would work for the application it was listed for....which for all I know may have been OK when the part was first set up....but after it superseded a time or two, that pretty much killed it.

the ones I've seen in the last couple years appear to be some sort of superseded late model pickup truck piece for Lord knows what. It's definitely not good for the application listed in the catalog.

MRA it, send it to scrap and start over with something else.

Rich, since it will fit the output shaft of the trans. I'm forced to make it work. My old yoke was junk and I don't have the time to try and find a good used part. Trying to get it ready for an event on april 11th. Driveshaft shop say they can make it work. Just going to cost an extra $55. At this point I will pay. Jim

I wish I would have found this post before I went to get my driveshaft ordered. The shop told me the trans yoke I provided is not a 7290 but a 1330.So my shaft will have a 1330 up front with a 1350 in back. I do remember hearing someone say that MP no longer "sells" the P5007411 and they changed the part number too.

I had the same problem two years ago. I returned the yoke to the dealer.

I bought my drive shaft from Mancini when I first built my Dart, it was supposed to have 7290 joints. It came with 1330s, here's the conversion joint from Napa "Precision 458".

I don't know why people buy those yokes. They are way overpriced and any local driveshaft supply can suply you with the proper long style 7290 yoke.
