It is possible. I did it but it's been 10 years or so. Something about opening up the lead around the cables to remove them, and then crimping them back in when re assembling. Hopefully someone can get you more information....

Is there way to remove the 3 cable from a driver side remote mirror (A/E/B Body) and still be able to reattach/reassemble the mirror? It looks like there are some type of metal barrel crimped on the end of each cable, and if you to just clip them off to remove the cables from the housing(mirror glass end),there my not be enough cable left to try and reattach them.Any suggestions? It's easy. First you need to notice that the cables and barrels is color coded. You need to reproduce this so you get the cables back in the right slot. Colored electrical tape works well. Remember you have to mark BOTH the barrel and cable. Next take a small flat bladed screwdriver and slowly work the jaws of the clamp apart. You want to get it a minimal distance apart then slip the cable out. Once you have all three out you can separate the two pieces.

I wouldn't call it easy. The clamp jaws you need to spread are a lightweight cast material. You need to be really careful not to split when opening or reclamping. I had varied success. I was able to use an expoxy held with a zip tie until it cured for one that split on reclamping.

Are you referring to the remote/knob end or the end with the mirror head? I assume the remote knob end as the mirror head end has the small connectors on the end of each cable and can not pull thru the mirror plate. I did the end where the knob is IIRC

If you break the pot metal that clamps the cable sleeve, send me an email Jimmy, I have a new one you're welcome to.
