I have firm bend in my original headliner board that I’m not sure how it happened but I’d like to flatten or straighten it out. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions to correct this?

Thanks
Tom

I had the same problem with mine. I fixed the problem with fibreglass matting. In my case the center portion of the headliner was caving in. What I did was I placed a cement block on the floor and placed the low spot of the headliner on the block making sure the headliner was completely off the ground. I then put weights on the headliner on different locations until the headliner had the right shape. Then started laying boat fiberglass matting on the headboard where it had been out of shape. I let it sit for a couple of days then removed the weights and gave it another coat of matting this time going wider as the weights were no longer in the way. This worked great for me.

That's a really good idea, 750-h2. I had read about Fiberglas repairs, and may end up doing that on this small area. Any idea if wetting this area could make it pliable and then I could reshape and let dry?

Thanks

You could try that first. I would use a wood working clamp with two short boards on both sides of the headliner to then straighten it out. If it works I would still fiberglass that area afterwards to make sure it stays that way. Of course all the fiberglass goes on the unseen [roof side] of headliner board..

I had the same problem with my Cuda headliner. I used heavily diluted, "Elmers" white glue. I put it in a sprayed the area with a spray bottle with water in it. I got the area pretty wet. The I brushed on several coats of the, glue. It worked but I was not impressed with overall result. I thought there was a company repo these,

I would get a hold of Dayclona and ask him to make you a fiberglass replacement. That old cardboard can be Mickey Moused but face it, it's 50 years old. It's just going to fail again.
