Howdy!

I have a 2009 6.1 6 speed srt8 challenger. It’s a daily driver but I only take it out a couple times a week or for turnpike comfort & performance. I also have hotrods and 4wd for winter plus bikes so I don’t put a ton of miles on it but it is my most comfy vehicle in the rain with modern defrost and ABS. I think a little bump in power would be fun. It’s only got like 50k on it so although it’s out of warranty I’m not in a hurry to open up a good running engine.

I figure there must be some really well proven kits for mild bolt-on superchargers- hopefully with a nice programmed tune to flash to the ecu as well. The challenger is fun to drive and decently quick but it’s heavy and you really have to rev it up and work the gears to get thrown back in the seat. I love the brakes and suspension on the srt8!

What kits are the best bang for the buck in mild reliable power?

At what point do you need to do forged pistons? How about clutch chassis or rear diff mods to hold the power?

I am not afraid of doing pistons etc. but I’d rather not- plus I don’t know at what power level my 6 speed manual and fancy computer controlled LSD IRS become a weak link and if beefing is simple and cheap to just add hellcat parts or something or if it’s a ton of hidden costs to go from 425 to 550 to 800 depending on how wild the build could get?

Probably not that wild! I don’t want to spend 10k- under 5 is better and more like 3000 would hurt much less! I just don’t know what the default stockish boosted upgrade is now that the 6.1 has been out awhile.

Thanks!

Most of what I've read and have seen , 8-10 lbs is max boost with a good tune ton the 6.1s I've heard of 12lbs but have never seen it personally...as for how you get there and what is best ......it's all a debate ,for 3k I think you are better off building a turbo set up...just my opinion.
might find a used 2.9l Whipple set between 3-5k price...honestly I'm not up on the used parts market.

as for the stock 6 speed I'm around 600ft lbs in my 2010 Challenger, trans is holding up fine I put about 100 miles on the car a week , I have Liberty gear prep T56 for back up,over the winter that t56 and the new 463 will go in.
I can't speak to the power the stock clutch can handle I'm running a Black Magic clutch set up , it was in the car when I bought it.
same for the rear , My challenger was a solid axle swap before I bought it.

Ray408G3Hemi, could tell us a little more about your solid axle swap? Is the rear suspension completely fabricated or are you able to use the stock rear suspension cradle with the solid axle? Thanks!

Most bang for the bucks gotta be a turbo setup as someone else said. Easier on the rotating assembly also. Well, easier on the whole driveline. You don't stress the internals until you press the pedal, and when it comes on the transition is smooth. When you cruise everything is normal. Original pistons will take a lot more in a turbo charged engine.
Not trying to hi-jack the thread but would be nice to hear from experienced turbo guys how much boost they run on an original CR gen 3 Hemi, turbo size and more.

It's 9 inch mark Williams like the Drag pak cars set up same type of 4 link they also welded frame ties in the car...it's about as close as you can get to a drag pak chassis with a VIn.
