...does the upper window frame have to come loose, (not necessarily all the way out) in order to get the window track
out of the way enough to allow removal of the window regulator?
Or is there another way I'm not seeing?

I'm not following your wording. My 65 D100 window crank has a set screw in the handle that tightens on the shaft. Just back the set screw out and slide the crank off.

I’m talking about removing the window crank regulator “mechanism” and it’s arms that connect to the slides at the bottom of the window glass. I wasn’t able to remove it by loosening the track at the bottom of the door. That helped but not near enough.

If I remember right, you need to remove the glass completely, then the mechanism disconnects at both the top and the bottom. I believe there are bolts through the inner panel. Then you need to turn it a bit sideways and get either the front, or the rear two mounting points through the access opening, then you can pull the other end through the access hole. But honestly, its been a very long time.

On the 50s models you need to remove the front window run track to be able to get the window regulator mechanism out of the door. Gene

Thanks Gene.

I was hoping there was an easier way, and dreading it would require that much disassembly mainly because of rusty bolts that are already breaking off, even after a good soak.
Not at the regulator itself, or at the remote, those are Phillips head and are in good shape. It's the window frame one's that I dread,... but will drill and fix as needed.

Thanks again.

Anybody have an explosive view of the door guts from a mid 60's Service Manual (gonna have ta get me one) so I can get an Idea of the bolt/clip fastener
that holds the bottom of the vent window frame down to the door. It appears to be between the lower pivot shaft of the vent window and the front window track.
