I used to get my solvent from tractor supply but got tired of the stink. I switched to kerosene with zero complaints and a bonus is I use kerosene to burn several times a year so I can change out more often. I have a nice link saved from Yellowbullet on adding an oil filter to filter it if you are interested

I only buy stoddard solvent, naptha is the same hazard class but it is not the same stuff. For me if I dont use gloves, stoddard solvent will make my hands tingle, naptha will not. It is a very standard industrial solvent. You can also look for PD680 type 2, it is an effective degreaser.

i'm interested in the filter link if you could. TIA ! Wow I was starting to think I lost the link when my old computer bit the dust. I bought everything to do this but when I cleaned my tank last year I ended up fixing the pump that was in the tank new. One of these days I will finish the job. I hope Photobucket didn't mess up the guys pictures to bad. https://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1083210&highlight=parts+washer+pump

I use mineral spirits in the big tank. When it gets to diluted and dirty, I put it in a separate tank that I use to pre-clean the really nasty dirty stuff to extend the life of the new, clean mineral spirits in the main tank. If performs well, no complaints. I use simple green and water in the ultrasonic cleaner. I always wear gloves before dipping my paws int any of this stuff. Now, since mineral spirits has gotten so expensive, Sometime I pour a little bit of gas in a bucket and clean stuff outside.

There's spray gun cleaner that does it all. You want a well ventilated shop for that stuff - and pitch the rags, etc outside afterwards. just opening the can will have the odor lingering for days !!

I have a wall mount invented natural gas heater in my shop. Fumes from spray cans or strong tank cleaners are burnt by my heater and give off terrible fumes. Kerosene in my parts tank have helped with this

I have a nice link saved from Yellowbullet on adding an oil filter to filter it if you are interested Yes I certainly would be as no filter contributed to it getting crudded up as bad as it was. good comprehensive info here guys! It sounds like mineral spirits might possibly be the way to go. I had thought about kerosene but all I know of here is premium K1 & it is a bit pricey. Thanks guys!
