You'll be putting car on stands and backing the torsion bars off and sliding them backwards for one thing. Lower arm pivot nuts will have to be removed and backed outta there also.

You might be able to slide them back just enough to drop the control arm end of strut first, then wiggle the front out of k frame. Of course, you'll be taking that 3/4 inch nut off the strut first. Those are usually stuck in there a little and may have to be knocked loose.

You will also have to disconnect your front shocks from the lower control arms along with the front sway bar links and lower ball joints

If your strut rod bushings are shot, I bet the lower control arm bushings are shot too.......and since you have to pull the lower arms out to change the strut rod bushings, now's the time to change the lower control arm bushings.....

question on the bushings.....the beveled side goes out to the washer....right??.....also did you have to cut the bushing on the beveled side to make it work ....looks fat compared to whats left of the old bushings

I had to thin mine on the belt sander to make them work. This was on a c-body, though.

Parts I seek: driver doorpanel, 65 Sport Fury, prefer black, needs to be 7-8 on 10 scale, might buy set 16" x 6" Dodge truck wheel(s), from early 70s?, takes 9" dogdish - need for a research job so cheaper is better. 69-73 C-body caliper brackets and/or splashields Send a PM.

it seems that the b-body is the only one that doesnt have to trim them....

WOW what timing. This place never ceases to amaze me. I have been fighting this issue all week. I just figured I had the wrong bushings. Pics later.

well i got back into it and was a piece of cake...took off the nuts off the strut rod, released torsion bar adjuster, removed rear torsion bar clip, removed lower control arm nut, poped upper ball joint, pryed back control arm which slide back the torsion bar in the socket and bingo...out came the strut rod....wasnt bad at all
