My coated Hookers are just touching my steering box. Is there a fix that does not involve damaging the coating? It's a 70 Challenger, 440 6 bbl.
TIA
Milan

But you needed to use it before the headers were coated. Everything needs to be test fit, before applying a finish coat.

My buddy ran into torsion bar clearance issues on a freshly coated.set of headers when he went to SR heads.

He heated the area red hot and used the side of a 1/2" drive extension to press a radius dimple in the tube and when it all cooled down, the coating was still like new.

You may try loosening the motor mounts and the steering box to see if they will move enough to give you the clearance you need.

Master, again and still

I made some changes after I coated my B1 headers and had an issue with starter clearance. I found the proper radius that I needed on a piece of scrap on my scrap pile and used my Harbor Freight press to make some clearance. Sure beat doing it with a hammer.

I think i'm going to try shimming the mount first. It looks promising. Thanks for the input gents. Oh and sorry (not!) for the misleading title. <grin>
