I have a late model 360 magnum with a 904 tranny in my 33 Plymouth. Both engine and tranny are stock. When taking off the tranny shifts from low into 2nd nice and smooth like it's supposed to. It will not shift into high unless you feather the gas pedal. It will always shift into high, but you must feather(or goose) the gas pedal. Any suggestions on why ??

Do you have a kickdown linkage hooked up?

Two possibilities.

1) The front clutch seals are leaking. How is Reverse?

2) Governor sealing rings are worn. Once it's in 3rd does it ever drop out?

kick down is hooked up. Reverse is fine, does not drop out of gear

My kickdown was not adjusted correctly (too tight). After some adjustments, it shifts fine now.
