Well, I finally got a response from the King Bearings folks. The 0.020" under connecting rod bearings (CR805XPN020) which I ordered waaaaayyyy back on May-14th, and which have now gone through at least three separate shipping delays (ordered at Summit) aren't even scheduled to be made, for quite some time, as in: We are currently out of stock on this part and I don't see then going into production anytime soon. Regards, Daniel McDermott Technical Support Representative King Engine Bearings Tel: 973 857 0705 x309 Fax: 973 857 3228 Toll-free: 800 772 3670 x309 www.kingbearings.comwww.kingracebearings.comSo now I'm somewhat stuck here given that the block ('74 360 casting) is at the machine shop along with all the other parts. The crank is a 0.020" under, forged piece with a fillet, the con rod journals are 2.1040-2.1041. The only undersize bearings I find are stock replacement pieces, which I am not thrilled about using in my build (408 W2 stroker motor). Any suggestions on what else I could try here? I thought of maybe cutting the crank another 0.004" to get me to the high-end of the Chevy small block (350) journal size (1.9990 - 2.1000), plenty of choices there, but not crazy about machining the crank. Is there anything else out there that I could try? Any other stock or even 0.010" under journals in other engines that would get me the equivalent of my 0.020" under, which is 2.1040? Thanks everyone! EDITMy current motor has a SealedPower 0.010" under CP-series bearing, haven't taken it apart yet, but no complaints so far. They do make a 0.020" under as well => 82130CP20

This won't help you much, but this is why I quit using Chrysler bearings years ago. I turn down every crank to LJ SBC to start with and use Chevy rods. It's easier.
In your case I'd use whatever bearing you can get. IMO the bearing brand is not an issue.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Is this a race engine... I went with stock bearings due to the fact your not gonna spin it really hard.. I turn my 416 to about 7000 rpms.. I didnt think I would be turning it that high but I do .. this is in my street rod with a solid cam... I did have to cut the bearings being that the crank has a radius to clear(no big deal)

So how does one actually cut these bearings? I assume a machine shop operation, keep in mind a DIY is fine with me provided that I do not need special tools.

Hi Todd, I will have some with me at Norwalk this weekend if you are coming or have a friend. Todd@ Marsh Performance. I might have some narrow ones as well but I would have to look. Todd Nah, wish I could, but no-go. If you get a chance, sure thing please let me know if you have something already narrow enough to make this work.

Todd, I think the CB481H does not come in 0.020" under...at least today's catalog lists no such thing. All of it is either std or 0.010 at most. But if you have that golden nugget I'd happily take you up on this, let me know the costs please and what would be the best way for me to get you that payment. I'm leaving on a canoe trip vacation with my daughter this Sunday, so forgive me please if I go silent after that (northern Ontario, cell reception IS spotty).
In the name of full disclosure: 67_Satellite has offered to send me his old and un-used CB-481P 0.020" set (free of charge to boot, although I'd feel way more comfy at least coughing up for the shipping costs...ahem, are you reading this Mr.Satellite???)!
Note that the CB481H is supposed to be a performance bearing with the chamfer already in-place, so if you trully have one that's 0.020" under that be the way to go.
dvw, If Todd does find that matching CB481H bearing I would greatly appreciate it if you can pick that up for me.

Todd and dvw, OK I went and looked. I for sure have the CB481P 020 but not the H series. Ironically I do have some CB481H in a .30 under... Todd Thank you for looking into this. Since I already have the CB481P bearings coming my way it makes no sense to get another set. You are right, the 0.030" is ironic sizing, and to do that I would have to re-gring the crank at which point in time I really should aim for the 2.100" journal size instead and open up the selection to a massive list of bearings. Gentlemen, thank you again, I appreciate your help but I will pass up on the opportunity at this point in time.
