Depends on the size of the pack which depends on the size of the chute, if you're using the 4 corner fasteners. We just use a small flange in the center for a conventional chute. Doesn't take much to hold the chute pack.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

As stated there is no "standard" answer for that question. Most of the plates you see are around 6x6 but doesn't mean anything. Every chute I have bought and used had no holes for mounting at all. You cut the bag for screws.
