The missing rings were on the work bench, but they were the ones my buddy gapped too big. He was supposed to grab new rings from another ring set, file-fit them and put them on the piston. I think Murphys Law and distractions, and having my friends 11-year old putting the ring compressor on the pistons all created the mess-up. But Saturday, pulled all the pistons, check all the rings, installed new rings on #3, and put it back together. Sunday (yesterday) got the engine back in the car and running (at 9:30 pm.) I'm sure the neighbors like hearing the engine fire up with no exhaust at that time of night.

There’s a lesson in there somewhere. Ummmm... Don't have kids? Don't have friends? Don't post your embarrassing screw-ups on the 'net? I'm sure one or more of those might apply... ![laugh2 laugh2](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/laugh2.gif)

It’s probably something more like.......
Friends don’t let friends help put motors together.

Do post your embarrassing screw-ups on the 'net, maybe there is something to learn from my mistakes ![smile smile](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/smile.gif) Sort of like don't use a claw hammer to remove the harmonic balancer.... Or degree the cams ICL while measuring the exhaust lobe...
