I have a 187 oil pan on my 440 and I’m swapping it out for an a reproduction Hemi oil pan. The sumps are the same depth but the slope on the drain plug side of the sump starts a tiny bit earlier and my pickup hits it. My bolt holes are maybe 3/32 inch off from lining up at most. Can I alter the stock pickup to clear the back of the sump?
Thanks!

I used the Mopar straight pick up with that pan and it works very nice and plays well with the windage tray. Gus

you can buy a pick-up to fit the hemi pan. Right. And when I buy a Hemi pickup, it will be identical to the one I have now because it’s the aftermarket pan that’s the issue. Can you buy pickups that are slightly offset from the original, and if so, where?

You can do either.. mod the PU or the pan itself I don’t want to ding the pan and screw up the coating. How do you mod the pickup? Is it safe to grind a section away?

Which reproduction hemi oil pan are you buying and want to use, 1966 to 1969 5 quart or the 1970/1971 hemi and 440 six pack 6 quart oil pan? This one. Which, I started looking. I thought it was a repo hemi pan but apparently it's a 5 quart? Regardless, bigger than my 187. The rear of the pan is deeper than the 187. Sump is almost the same at the base and in the same location. And I am running a windage tray.
