Bought a set of new old stock 340 forged arias pistons. Paper says .003 piston clearance spec. Does this mean .a.006 bigger bore than the piston size?
This seems a little tight. IIRC the old trw forged pistons used to call for about .006 clearance if I remember correctly.

clearance is in the piston, not the bore.

Exactly. The bore size is nominal, the piston size is the clearance. Measure the skirt and that will tell you how much clearance you need. Add .0005-.0010 if you think you are going to abuse the engine.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Presumably the Arias forging has better control of its expansion than the old TRW clankerweights?
Worth a call to their tech line.
