The dash vents on my 67 barracuda look to be in great shape. I have the complete dash out of the car and have painted it and it looks good. My only problem is the vents are faded and will not even come close to matching the dash. My solution would be to clean the vents up, use a plastic primer and hope that I can find a black flat plastic paint. Anybody done this and what are your results?

I think Krylon makes a Fushion line of paint that works on plastics. My brother used it on his arm rest bases and some other small parts and it seems to work ok.


I don't think you need any sort of primer either. Just clean the parts really well first.

Fusion works really good. No primer needed. As stated, just clean then paint. The "fusion" bonds to the plastic, therefore, no need to prime first. I'd test the paint to see how much the paint will match tho foirst

Thank's all. As far as the color matching, even if it were a gloss, it couldn't be much worse than the faded 40 year black that is on there now.
