2004 Ram...my e brake cable has a TON of slack...around the door area under truck. It looks like the adjuster nut is tightened all the way down (the one under the door area) . I cant see anything loose at the pedal. but the e brake cable at the drivers side isnt doing anything at all at the rotor.

Any common fixes for this ?? Has anyone had this problem? Pedal goes all the way down ...but no E brake .

Where the cable connects to the backing plate lever that actuates the brake shoes, that is still there ?

all the cable mounting/end anchoring points are still there and not rusted away ?

on my 2002 I replaced that adjusting 'thing' along with all the down stream cables a few years ago as that adjusting thing was rusted to the point of almost breaking and none of the cables were going to unhook from it without cutting. A new adjuster was easy to locate via ebay since they fail commonly, new cables I had to scrounge for since oem is NS1 and aftermarket did not have a listing confused

The parking brake shoes should just about last forever but rust can still attack things and cause internal breakage.

Edit: the oem cables apparently are not NS1, they were back ordered or something at the time as it took some time to locate them.

I`m not sure on your year but my 2014 ram had slack like that and the lever at the brake adjuster on the rear brake was frozen with rust. Once I broke it loose it was fine.
